    All you need is the rare auld times in the background.
    Listening to Near FM the other day talking about cinemas.
    Did you know that one cinema was fitted out with doors from the Lucitenia ?

    strange to see the middle of the road there at the collage green with no taxis…is one pic there of a taxi with a yellow sign in front of trinity collage?….pics like that are gold dust we all love the past

    Ahh – take you back would’nt it – hop on and hop off buss’es, horse and carts strolling around the pale, motorists pushing in the choke to stop the car from doing over 30 km per hour, oh how times have changed !!!!!!.

    A precious collection. Funny to see how things have changed. Although, the photo of the Four Courts could nearly have been taken yesterday!
    Excerllent photography, too !

    One major difference I noticed was old Nelson standing tall on O’Connell Street, since blown up by the RA and replaced by the Spire, I know which one I’d prefer to see there now

    NICE PICTURES, DUBLIN 1961 . The Black Car with Yellow Sign is a Mercedes 180/190D. My Dad Said Ryans Radio Cabs,Had those Also.TAXIS Were Big Cars,Humbers,Morris Oxfords, Vauxhalls,Fords,etc.No Diesels Except Merc, Buses looked good,Hard Work to Drive i Bet ,No Power Steering,etc /VW Van with P&T Script . Not Many Traffic Lights!!,Did Gardai do Points Duty,Good Few VW Beetles, Fiats,Fords, etc. Sth Great Georges St, Parking Outside Cassidys Shop(Not Today) O Connell Street Looks so Different.Two Way Traffic on Bachelors Walk,+Quays,Traffic coming Down Grafton street long Before “Pedestrianised”
    Lots of Cyclists Dame Street ? Did ,nt see Roadworks at All + No Speed Bumps , Unlike these days, Lovely to look Back on Those Pictures. Well Done for having up on The Site Roy.

    Iwas only three years old in 1961,I remember the old buses,amazing to see so many on bicycles,I remember cassidys too,the streets are cleaner than they used to be, and the lifey doesent stink anymore, lovely pictures.
