fukkin typical of this industry . we are always going on about how we all should unite . the minute a rep body tries to do something, all the comments over on the forum are having a go at them . i will NEVER understand what you drivers want, is it just that you get a buzz out of always being this way ,or what is it with you ? we need change, and your approach of doing nothing has been tried, and failed .

  2. patrickhealyon 03 Dec 2012 at 4:34 pm

3 men and the dog is ROY

  3. Royon 03 Dec 2012 at 6:57 pm

BB; the forum is open to anyone who wants to comment, normally we have opposing views however we were fairly united against this protest action.

    I didn’t go Patrick

  4. patrickhealyon 03 Dec 2012 at 7:27 pm

ROY I did not mean that to be insulting in any way but anyways I know we have opposing views and i am sure that you and everybody else who drives a taxi as their main source of income are really pissed off how the whole taxi business have turned out.

  5. Martinon 03 Dec 2012 at 8:08 pm

Yep most here, disagree with those unions,a get rich quick organisation, while the muppets dance to the bagpipes, where would you get it :-) .Id say Kathleen was doing a dance in here office. Can the taxidrivers that run TTNH tell me they dont get a WAGE,dont think so!!!!.Representing taxi drivers my HOLE.Why not march to 8202020 offices and protest that would be more meaningful .Are expel any DISCOUNT drivers that are in TTNH,Dont think so!!!,they want your €80 blips. There protesting about discounting but DO it themselves…Gobshites…And how dare they say they represent taxidrivers the cheek of them…I was going to shout out today when passing CLOWNS but they were a ruff looking shower

  6. Martinon 03 Dec 2012 at 8:17 pm

500 drivers signed a petitionThought those CLOWNS had 1800 members.I think there already telling lies like Vinny Kearns.

  7. Martinon 03 Dec 2012 at 8:20 pm

They’re willing to stand up , where others accept stickers.

  9. Deson 03 Dec 2012 at 11:13 pm

How can the 25 members who post on the forum be anything other than scabs?

  10. Royon 03 Dec 2012 at 11:26 pm

Thanks for the promo clip Des, much appreciated!

  11. Deson 03 Dec 2012 at 11:36 pm

No problem roy nice to see you are not taken offence for a change and deleting the post.
By the way most of the posting 25 members you have are likely outcasts and don’t fit in anyplace a bit like yourself.

  12. Royon 03 Dec 2012 at 11:45 pm

Aye, lepers! the lot of them

  13. Royon 03 Dec 2012 at 11:53 pm

Just took a look through the 175 members that have been online during the past week, 56 of them post regularly enough, but you’re right … they’re all lepers!

  14. Deson 04 Dec 2012 at 12:42 am

Only 56? the way you boys lay claim to own the taxi industry would have thought there was more of you.
How many votes in your poll about the protest?
Lepers? Nah don’t think i would go as far as to to say they were leps more like bottom feeding loach (glasslickers) as opposed to windowlickers.
Do you ever think you might be better off out of this biz than in? i swear we will not miss you.
Do you class yourself as a hobby taxi driver as in a kept man?

  15. Royon 04 Dec 2012 at 1:18 am

We just discuss the topics of the day, we don’t lay claim to anything.
Members don’t have to vote, we dont bombard them with texts or hasssle them in their taxis with petitions, I didn’t really look at the number, was it 40 or so?
I like my job thanks all the same, I’ll leave when I feel like it, not when you tell me to.
I’m a full time taxi driver, just like you … I like messing about with websites and computers … although I don’t do the video editing thing… Is there much work in that?
    Kept man?
Maybe … but I try earn my share, you know what we taxi drivers earn really, although I’ve a few morals, I’m not inclined to steal work from fellow drivers, so might not be right up with the guys that park opposite the Grafton rank.
Seeing as you’re like my stalker and all, I’m just wondering you’re not a phychopath … are you?

  16. Deson 04 Dec 2012 at 2:40 am

Psychopath? think you have to wait until we meet up to find that out but you should not worry about it.
I don’t think you are a full time taxi driver what do you work about 5 hours a night?
Most of that i hear is sitting on the green making phone calls about the lads outside the dandelion.

If you don’t like the T.T.N.H why don’t you setup your own group? maybe you might find you don’t have any support.
Its one thing having a few clowns agreeing with you here but in reality they are just as scared as you.
You boys just dont fit in with this industry oddball nomads more a-kin to gypsy cabs.
You can have the licence meter and car but you will never be a real taxidriver not if you spend your life driving.

If you had any of those morals you talk about you should have never taken on this job.
Why do you concern yourself about the T.T.N.H or other rep groups not you or any of your retard friends are members.

  17. Royon 04 Dec 2012 at 3:12 am

I admire TTnH and what they’ve achieved this far. (website is shite but I’m sure they’ll get around to fixing all the glitches)
I was against the protest which used gullible drivers in an attempt to get feet under the negotiating table.
I believe they have a lot of work to do to recover from today, I don’t believe they are actually against everything in the review or the proposed bill, but how can they back down now? … without looking like idiots, particularly as they now realise there is no real appetite for protest on the ranks.

  18. Martinon 04 Dec 2012 at 8:59 am

@Des. Will you ever get a grip of yourself,Are you one of the gurriers at the Parnell Sq yesterday?.You and your organisation are the laughing stock of Dublin. What the Fu*k are you protesting for anyway?,most of the agendas in the review are been dealt with. And Im not sticking up for Roy but any man who threatens another man is a SCUMBAG,you quoted to Roy “Psychopath? think you have to wait until we meet up to find that out but you should not worry about it.”Des you are the dregs of society to say anything like that,As they say a bird always shows its colours,a slimey snake. Now you and your organisation just should pis* off from debates as you cant hold a a decent coversation

  19. bohemian boyon 04 Dec 2012 at 10:19 am

lads will ya all simmer down . this constant snipping at each other, is light years away from the much hoped for unity we all want for our industry. of course debating the issues is good, but surely we can do it in a way that DOES NOT involve threatening, or insulting beheviour. some time ago a member from this forum and i , met with kathleen doyle , and her team to discuss an issue , during the discussions she revealed to us , as did her team, that they often look in on the forum . now if they regularly see the kind of DISUNITY that is being displayed here , they will know they have nothing to fear now, or at any time in the future . please let us exchange our views in a mutually respectful manner . god knows , i havent always been the most diplomatic,or level headed, person in the world myself, but i am learning that we must at least respect each other in order to move forward . surely debate is all about trying to get the others with opposing views to see the merit in your argument, and getting them to hopefully join with you going forward

  20. Martinon 04 Dec 2012 at 11:01 am

@Bohemianboy,Well said.It would be nice if there was UNITY,but it will never happen, from 2003, it all went away, and kathleen knows it.As far as a person like Des he has now shown me whatever credibilty the TTNH has.Do you really think Kathleen Doyle would talk with people like this?,I dont think so….As Roy said 3 men and and dog, very funny and a banjo player. The public are angry with Taxidrivers asa usual because of there protest. It would interesting to know how many TTNH members work for 8202020,NRC and Expert…And I hope kathleen is having a good giggle at them,As I phoned the NTA today and voiced my concerns about this renegade group asking for NO MEDIA coverage ,and that a minority group has no say on the Taxi Industry.

  21. bohemian boyon 04 Dec 2012 at 11:17 am

martin i know how angery you are about the whole thing, this is reflected in your comments , but to you, and des, and everyone else who feels the anger , we have got to get beyond that now . we have got to move forward , fighting with each other is not the way forward . for the sake of unity please try and find common ground . i know people are probably sick to death of me always going on about unity, but i really believe with all my heart that it is the only way forward .

  22. flybyniteon 04 Dec 2012 at 11:26 am

    Martin,
I am afraid you got it 100% right.
Afraid ? Yes because it demonstrates how desperate we are. A few guys clutching a banner like it was a final straw. Asking for a reduction in our income ? Are they joking ? Why not ask for more rules and regulations to strangle our industry even more ? KD will not even consider their futile protest. Giggle ? Ever seen a picture or her ? Or seen her on the telly in that debate with Tommy Gorman ? She does not look like she ever smiles, let alone giggle. She has a face I can only associate with North Ireland Unionist leaders: Grim, no surrender !
This ill-timed, ill-fated protest does nothing for us. I would be sorry for them but I belong to the same group of people who see their profession being destroyed slowly and gradually. And slowly ? The pace of it is increasing and action like this does nothing for us. And the fact that the punters are all worried sick about the effect of to-morrow’s budget will have on THEIR life is not going to give them any sympathy. The Christmas season has started, but at the moment I am thinking of a cartoon on the telly I watched with my kids a few years ago. It was called “Futurama”, probably still running bur when does a taxi driver have the time to sit down other than behind the wheel?, and in it a robot Santa was spraying them with bullets. The accompanying ditty was “Santa Claus is gunning you down” (instead of “Coming to town”) . That is the message from our dear leaders in Leinster House to their grateful subjects and they have enough worries of their own to take any notice of a few daft taxi drivers with a banner, a piper and a dog !

  23. Martinon 04 Dec 2012 at 11:48 am

@ALL,Anyway lets change the subject they made a fool of themselves there in the past till the nextime, they appear ,Maybe with a cat and a ferret.God lads i cant stop laughing here about the doggy that turned up to protest about better conditions from his owner to walk him more, and the piper in full uniform playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V84STSWVp3g and the CIA TTNH member is his black sunglasses with him.god its hillarious woof woof!!!!!

  24. bohemian boyon 04 Dec 2012 at 1:14 pm

i completely surrender now . i now believe unity will NEVER be achieved in the industry. it is just a continuious onslaught of dirogitory comments about a group who have tried to effect change in the industry for the betterment of all . as i have said i am NOT a member of ttnh, but i totally respect their right to march in support of what THEY believe is the way forward . interesting thing is though, all the people who continue to slander the work they have done, not one of them have come up with an alternative way forward .

  25. Deson 04 Dec 2012 at 2:46 pm

    @ bohemian boy
You cannot unite this industry or the forum members so forget about your ambition to achieve unity.
Forget about the public they never cared about us and never will so why worry about them.
The public would complain about taxi drivers if the fare was a flat rate of €2 anywhere in Dublin.
Do you honestly think the public use taxis for the love of of taxi drivers.
Most of the users of this blog and forum are just as you see them post – uneducated trash.
They have found a good home here of that there can be no doubt and they are most welcome to the place.
Traitors find homes in the most unlikely places but it never changes what they are or how they get here.
See how the traitors mingle among us? see how they change the real thoughts and ideals of real taxidrivers.
How can one spot the difference between a real taxidriver and the imposter? easy just look at what they post here.
Making assumptions simply means believing things are a certain way with little or no evidence that shows you are correct, and you can see at once how this can lead to trouble.
I am not and have never been a member of the TTnh but yet some fools here have made that assumption.
One fool with a twisted mind even suggests that i maybe a violent person but i would class myself as a pacifist.
Roy should get active if he wants to impose his views join with like minded people form a group and not take cheap shots frm a public forum.
I say this to you Roy you encourages bickering you cause splits and divides and do more harm than good.
We would in my opinion be so much better off if you and your likes were segregated from the real taxidrivers.
Can you not see it Roy? you are the one with the odd ways and beliefs out of place in this industry.
If i am so wrong start your own group and call it what ever you wish let us see who will support you.

  26. Martinon 04 Dec 2012 at 3:23 pm

@Des ..I find it odd that you post comments and cant reply to them in any manner.Either your a dispatch company owner or high up in (3maad )organisation three men and a dog.You talk about people been a traitor!!!!!.Its you who has the industry in shite Vinny or sorry Des,this is a forum can you understand that Mr.Ebbs sorry Des.(-: ,and you are a violent person saying you will meetup and see how he will know about it.You say this site is rubbish so then dont come here.Or tell us who you really are?

  27. sidewinderon 04 Dec 2012 at 3:32 pm

I agree with bb,we are a flock with no shepard,a team without a manager,i just think with a strong united industry we can earn and demand respect,as for martin i cant understand ur name calling they are a group of guys doing what they beleive in.

  28. Deson 04 Dec 2012 at 4:34 pm

I challenge Roy to setup his own organisation or association put your money where your mouth is Roy.

@ Martin fishing are we? why don’t you stick your real name up here?
Martin are you lost? unable to find your way lost in our industry without a real friend.
I have this feeling Martin you are under pressure and need to talk to somebody soon.
I mean a real person not a computer you do know you need help no shame in that Martin but do it soon.

  29. Martinon 04 Dec 2012 at 5:01 pm

@Des,Agree I like gadgets and between jobs i go online as Im bored sitting on a Taxirank, it passes the hours of boredom, then i meet muppets like you but your here to strange isnt it.
@ALL check out photos in link..TTNH want NO penalty points for PSV drivers are they on drugs, you break the law you get the points simple as that,Found it funny look they even have SAS military jackets.. http://www.broadsheet.ie/2012/12/03/you-talkin-to-me/

  30. Deson 04 Dec 2012 at 5:56 pm

Sourgrapes Roy just because the TTNH were not willing to put up with your old guff.
So now you backstab Vinny and Ebbs it must be hard for you to make friends or keep them.
All you have left is the blog and forum of hopeless castouts unwashed and unwanted.
I take it you will not take up the offer of a challenge to setup your own organisation or association.
Mind running wild roy SAS military jackets? are you kidding? any spaceships?
Might be best if you went back to your toys you are nothing more than childish brat.

  31. Royon 04 Dec 2012 at 6:42 pm

I’m not here to make friends Des, if I don’t like what you’re doing I’ll say so, if I do .. I’ll say so, I don’t blindly follow groups, never have, never will.
You seem to take things too personally, it’s not my fault you couldn’t make a go of your forum and your websites are shite looking, just keep trying

  32. Martinon 04 Dec 2012 at 6:55 pm

@Roy well said,What site has he got King Dessie

  33. Martinon 04 Dec 2012 at 7:01 pm

PLEASE ANSWER THIS TTNH COMPANY DIRECTOR OR MEMBERS,WOULD YOU MARCH ON A DISCOUNT COMPANY????..YOU WOULD GET MORE MEMBERS.BUT KNOW AS YOU ADVERTISE A DISCOUNT COMPANY NOT A HOPE!!!

  34. Royon 04 Dec 2012 at 7:02 pm

I have no ambition to set up any organisation or join one, I think it would compromise what I am trying to do here, I actually try not to be biased, I may seem to be against TTnH at the moment but maybe that’s because they are the only representative body actually doing anything, I think you’ll find the NTA/Minister/Cab Comanies/DOT/CTA/NITA/FED etc don’t like this website either
I believe rep bodies, ministers regulators etc are there to be shot at, they stick their hears above the parapet, however I try not to comment on their looks, behaviour, illnesses or anything personal, I merely comment on their activities and whether or not I think they are intelligent, foolish , idiotic or moronic.
If TTnH or any other official body have a problem with being critiscised … fuk em, they’re in the wrong business.
If you want to criticise anything I say, how I run this website , fair enough, I welcome it …all very useful , telling me I’m fat or reminding me I’m diabetic or whatever just makes you look like a moron, so I might do you a favour and remove those posts .. or I might leave them, depends.
Not sure how an article about TTnH’s latest actions ends up being about me .. I don’t understand why you think I’m interesting enough for a discussion?

  35. sclasson 04 Dec 2012 at 7:07 pm

    Martin
Your bored sitting on taxi ranks you said TTNH were blocking up the streets on busy
    Christmas week
Not much response on taxi .morgue to the protest other than same old squatters

  36. Deson 04 Dec 2012 at 9:15 pm

You don’t like it roy when you get a slap for sticking your own head above the parapet.
I don’t know if you are fat or diabetic, blad or anything else as i have never seen you.
I don’t have a forum or website and don’t belong to any organisation or association, union.
I can support my work colleagues even though i may not like some of them or their aspirations.
Why would i need to humillate colleagues in a public forum where the NTA can enjoy.
I think you are beyond reason your manner offends me and is against my understanding of respect.
The forum sets standards to the same level as the people who have flood our little country.
You have setup your forum with nothing more than malicious intent and to ruin the aspirations of those who wish to better this industry.
Never have i seen you make any effort to start any organisation or association but you slander and condem those that try improve things.
I don’t wish you harm or begrudge you the enjoyment of your blog or forum.
Someday you will look back at the things you have said and done and only then can you judge them for what they are.

This i hope will be my last post on this subject.

  37. sclasson 04 Dec 2012 at 9:23 pm

Roy no ambition to start up any organisation so what happened to the new business association you were so stirred up and excited about and could not wait yo lend your tuppence worth.
You say you try not to be biased yet you are well able to comment on plate lords and a lot more shite you come out with your attitude stinks you are a selfish false emotionally confused liar.

  38. Royon 05 Dec 2012 at 12:09 am

I am still keen on a proper business association for taxi drivers, however I don’t want to organise it.
I have opinions and I express them, I believe the plate lords were responsible for their own destruction, however I sympathize with those who made a poor investment and actually paid £80,000 for a plate and didn’t get a reasonable return, that’s tough, I may make mistakes and write stuff that is incorrect from time to time but I don’t lie.

  39. Royon 05 Dec 2012 at 12:32 am

Des, I believe the ministers review and the actions contained therein are the best hope we currently have for the taxi industry and I believe those who are trying to bring it down in order to further there own agenda of becoming a big taxi union are the ones causing damage, in my opinion they are the ones being selfish.
If you or John have better solutions come out with them, stop being anti everything, it’s too easy to sit around waiting for others to come up with solutions only to knock them down … It’s lazy, we need solutions not marches and protests,

  40. flybyniteon 05 Dec 2012 at 1:21 am

    Des,
I sympathise with you and would take offence if I were not aware of the cause of the bickering.
Because we are desperate ! We have tried so many times to unite. I am a relative newcomer to the taxi industry, I was a taxi driver for only 12 1/2 years. Loved the work, the banter, the jokes. Even with the drunks I had the funny moments.
Like when a guy flagged me down, wanted me to turn around, I thought he was with two other guys standing there. But kept walking in front of me and when I opened the door again he threw a fiver on the seat, said “that is all you are getting” and did a runner. I had followed him for perhaps 50 yards or so, he must have thought we were somewhere else. And the two guys who were standing there wanted a taxi and it was a good fare. Yes, there have been funny moments and of course I had my share of pukers, runners and the like. Good moments: a woman from the Ballymun flats threw up in my taxi, went into her flat, came back with buckets, water, cloth and cleaned it all up. Then she insisted paying the soiling charge. I told her that she did not have to as she had cleaned it all up. But she said “I kept you off the road and you could have been earning”. I did a lot of work there when the old flats were still up and never had a problem. Nor in the old Fatima Mansions. I live nearly around the corner and was shocked to hear about that German guy getting killed. The flats used to be a bit rough around the edges but this level of violence is getting worse. In spite of that new posh name !
And Des, there is one other aspect about this site that you must bear in mind:
It gives us a bit of a forum to blow off steam, to vent our frustrations, to share our worries.
So let us at least try and not get too personal and insulting one another will never create unity.

  41. Royon 05 Dec 2012 at 1:45 am

I find folk normally run away once they get personal flyby, water off a ducks back, I couldn’t give a bollix what they think of me.
I don’t understand why I should support a group when I fundamentally disagree with their stance and believe what they are doing is detrimental to the taxi industry.
I’m willing to debate any point with them and listen to their alternatives
Their only argument is that I am selfish, I am a liar, emotionally confused etc, they’re not willing to discuss the detail, because bar being against …. They have nothing.
For example anyone against a no transfer rule, who also complains about oversupply … is a moron.

  42. sidewinderon 05 Dec 2012 at 2:57 am

A question for roy?has the taxi industry ever had a full proper unioun?a registererd unioun,i asked u before and now im asking again?has anybody got an answer?

  43. Royon 05 Dec 2012 at 3:10 am

NTDU always claimed they were the only taxi union with a negotiating licence which made them the only real union representing taxi drivers.
Personally I believe the union idea is the wrong one, instead of groups determined to keep this industry in the dark ages peopled by scum with no interest in providing a service, we should have one that wants it to be the best it can possibly be, by encouraging operators to provide a quality service.

  44. African Cabbieon 05 Dec 2012 at 5:57 am

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “please let us exchange our views in a mutually respectful manner . god knows , i havent always been the most diplomatic,or level headed, person in the world myself, but i am learning that we must at least respect each other in order to move forward” – - @bboy. .

After reading that quote above, l was hopeful that just maybe, we would all adhere to that admonition but alas, as usual……..

Something ‘fundamental’ must be wrong somewhere, with Taxi Drivers…. or how come?

BTW: I doubt if KD reads this blog otherwise, she would have delivered triplets, prematurely……. going by the amount of bile she is given here-in.

Now,l am trying to make something out of this: A “REAL TAXI DRIVER”?
How do l know if l am one?

Yea, l drive me taxi, dont share/rent it with anyone, own it 100% and cross my t’s, dot my i’s …

That cant be all there is to being a “real taxi Driver”, cant it?

And Flybynite, you sure have a good sense of humor, l wish we all can be like you, once in a while.

I think Roy has to maintain his “neutrality” on issues he raises in “this/his forum” otherwise, it would just become his own ‘personal trumpet’ and as such, will lose impact and public followership.

Now, these are nothing personal. Just airing my own views.

  45. Benon 05 Dec 2012 at 6:48 am

you must be Irish to be a real taxi driver in Ireland. You dont qualify, and you never will.

  46. sclasson 05 Dec 2012 at 8:48 am

    Look Roy
Half the time i don’t know if to take you serious or not .winding us up to keep the blog going.so you want a proper business association but you want yo sit on your hole and let others do the donkey work. nice one Roy.Allen Kelly is a waffler trying to sort out the taxi industry without costing them a penny.no way is he getting my plate off me for fukk all.
Their the ones that fukked it up Not taxi driver Roy

  47. bohemian boyon 05 Dec 2012 at 10:27 am

ac i dont know if k d reads the forum or not, i can only tell what she said during the course of our talks TWICE in fact she said it .there is no great significence attached to wether she does or not, but still i thought it was interesting

  48. Royon 05 Dec 2012 at 2:38 pm

Sclass there is no money for a buyback and you cannot ban people simply because you don’t like them as Ben dreams about.
The only hope for this business lies in a complete, no nonsense, no transfer rule.
Allowing next of Kin allows Brendan Spearing to give his wife, kid, Brother or Cousin his 100 odd plates to rent to Ben’s buddies, same for Phyllis Murpy’s 60 plates and OXO’s 20 or whatever, thinking you can make it that they don’t get to transfer while you can is bullshit and if that’s what you’re trying to convince your members can happen then you’re lying …. sorry …. mistaken.
Alan Kelly done a very good job and his report contains a package that could revolutionise this business, instead of whining about stickers that cost less than a days taking and offer huge potential you should be spending your time ensuring the proposals are enacted as prescribed.
Or just go fishing and the Keyboard warriors will keep up the pressure, because you and your organisation sure aren’t helping the process.

  49. Benon 05 Dec 2012 at 4:12 pm

Roy you can ban illegals, but first you have to catch them, and that wont happen until we have proper enforcement. I know for certain that the illegal activity in my own area is carried out by foreign drivers.
Can you tell me if a publicans licence, for example, expires when that person dies. Or does it becone the property of his/her next of kin.

  50. sidewinderon 05 Dec 2012 at 4:57 pm

My tv licence is worth more than my taxi licence,i accept we have to do what we’re told by nta,but it does’nt meen i have to like it.

  51. Benon 05 Dec 2012 at 6:08 pm

Don’t like the transfer rule either, but some people will surely appeal a no transfer ruling.

  52. sclasson 05 Dec 2012 at 6:56 pm

If Alan Kelly went ahead with the no transfer rule how long would it take how many years before it would have any effect on the taxi business.
Another thing the taxi penalty points another stick to beat you out of the game.think of it.
    It could be you.
So Roy im digging my heels in on the no transfer.
    The fukkers have plenty
    Of money for their pensions.

  53. Royon 05 Dec 2012 at 7:27 pm

If things improve and jobs become available in the outside world, some taxi drivers will take up this employment, drivers will die, get sick and get old, criminals will be turfed out, some double jobbers will be turfed out, some will emigrate.
If there is a no transfer rule, all the above will disappear from the fleet.
If there isn’t a no transfer rule they wont, doesn’t matter what loophole is left open … it’ll be used and we’ll never reduce our numbers.
Penalty points will teach drivers to behave, if they get 1 they’ll be a little more careful, 2 and they’ll be very careful and if they get 3 then they’re stupid and deserve whatever they get (assuming you get 1 point at a time and if you get 3 you’re out)
Penalty points and stepped fines will revolutionise the enforcement of the industry, something you want …. but don’t want.
TTnH claim to want better enforcement but moan about better enforcement, it’s ridiculous.

  54. Royon 05 Dec 2012 at 7:30 pm

PS, it doesn’t matter how long it takes, but eventually numbers will drop with a no transfer rule in place, without it they remain the same.
TTnH complain about over supply, but want every plate to remain … ridiculous.

roy makes a good case for the enactment of the new rules, its kinda hard to argue against what he says. one thing i will say though is, ben you say in a post above you know for certain of the illegal operation of taxis in your area by foreign nationals , if indeed that is the case then with respect, you have an absolute duty to report same to the gardai

  56. Benon 05 Dec 2012 at 8:54 pm

Boh i report these people on a regular basis, to both the local Gardai, and to the TRD/NTA.

    @Roy:
I honestly think the “No Transfer Rule” itself has become toothless or at about 40% effectiveness as of today, in reducing numbers of Taxi, in the IMMEDIATE.

I think it was designed to put out “renters and those who accumulated hugenumber of Licenses”.

That given, almost any renter l know, now have a License in their own name! …….SOLVED!
Every “Multi-plate owner” have distributed them in a way that they can be transferred (and the next-of-kin clause has made nonsense of it anyway!) either through Company Registration or other means………….SOLVED

The newly designed, fancy, door Poster is another example! Peeps will tell you how they will cover it with a Vinyl Lycra with a matching color of the car. off-and-on at will? Huh?

It is unfortunate that “we” ask for some rules and are the same ones who will go behind to design methods and means of circumventing it, thereby rendering it useless.

Maybe Ben would also blame it on ‘foreign nationals’? (lol).

And that reminds of that bald ostrich that buries its head in the sand! Hypocrite!!

    @Ben:
“you must be Irish to be a real taxi driver in Ireland. You dont qualify, and you never will.”

Being Irish, is a “Nationality” as l understand and “One’s Nationality” is proved beyond doubt, not by your skin color or tongue-accent but by the INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT you carry that identifies you.

Just checked mine now and it says “IRISH PASSPORT” and has my details!

I guess you’re fatally wrong or is there something you left out in that “definition”? lol

  59. Benon 06 Dec 2012 at 6:53 am

your passport is probably forged, where were you born

  60. patrickhealyon 06 Dec 2012 at 10:54 am

OH OH guys here we go again.
I think AC has the better argument. For if we think of it: who is Irish ? I took time to check some of our history, having children at school helps to get the information just in case you forgot. Because how many years do we have to go back ? The Jews have claimed Israel, but that subject is too murky to go further down that path. But if I take a bit of time and read up in a few well-thumbed school books I find that we should nearly all be somewhere else.
The Celts arrived some 2500 years ago. Before them there were people here who built Newgrange and a whole lot of other stone-age monuments. Does that mean that only the likes of Fred Flintstone and his clan have the right to live here and call themselves Irish ? The Vikings founded Dublin. Should we all take a DNA test to see who is a “real Dub”? Strongbow came here in the 12th century and brought all these Anglo-Irish settlers with him. Bingo, anyone with a name that came from that time: OUT ?? Does it mean that everyone with a surname starting with “Fitz” is not Irish enough ? How about the planters ? Can we show their descendants the door ? Well, here is a thought because when I see the current idiocy in Belfast I would tend to say that they should all go back to England where they belong if they feel so strongly about “being English”. In fact I am considering to join Sinn Fein because of it (my wife says she’ll divorce me if I do, would that be a good or a bad thing?).
Should every American be put on a ship except of course the Red Indians?
What about all the Ozzies that are not aborigine’s ?
We never have been able to unite. It has always worked for CIE because if they go on strike the country grinds to a halt. Drivers are all members of a union. But more important: they are on WAGES. They do not have to fend for themselves like in our industry so each time when there is a problem we start acting like a pack of hungry wolves and eat one another.

  64. African Cabbieon 09 Dec 2012 at 1:22 pm

    There you go again, flybynite!
Always tying to educate the “un-educatables”!

Thanks for reminding all of us, even for something as simplistic as the definition of being Irish!

I bet Ben’s son (if he ever had the balls to grow one!) will tell mine that he is more Irish than him, both being ‘native-borns’!

“Bitter Ben” is a fitting nick name for him. lol

  65. Benon 09 Dec 2012 at 2:30 pm

i am not at all bitter, i am a very happy IRISHMAN. yes i have kids who are very proud to be IRISH.
