A Plea for new improved Ranks

Roy October 6th, 2008

Following on from the “new opportunities …new ranks” post,  I’m writing to anyone I feel may be in some way responsible for the lack of Ranks in the city to ask what they intend to do about the problem.

Here’s the first draft;

Hi

My name is Roy and I write the Irish taxi blog (www.irishtaxi.net).

I am writing about the lack of adequate Taxi Ranks at Sporting venues, Hotels, Concert venues, Theaters, Shopping centres etc. for which I feel you are partly responsible, either through the non provision of these ranks, or for not harassing the relevant authorities to provide these facilities, instead, relying on Taxi drivers to set up impromptu, illegal facilities to cater for the patrons.

Please let me know what you intend doing to rectify this situation as it simply cannot be allowed to continue as is, with Taxi drivers being moved on, or sometimes even ticketed whilst trying to provide a service for these facilities.

I have published this e-mail on www.irishtaxi.net, along with the list of recipients and will publish any replies received.

Roy

If you are interested in a better Taxi service why not send an e-mail to them yourself, saying you’ve read the post, support the idea of more ranks and await their response?

Saint Fiacre! are you reading this stuff mate? wakey wakey!

    Yes indeed,
Malahide castle were insisting that taxis drop punters in the village at the dart station then they would be brought back by coach.
I took off my roof sign and drove on to the venue.
There seemed to be no arrangements made for taxis after the concert either.
Remember the first few few trains dropped people into Connelly station making no stops along the way.Good for taxis in town .
    Very bad for punters.

It should be part of the liscence to hold a concert that transport including taxis will be available before and after.

@john, exactly! most of the time we’re treated like pariahs by the guards when we work gigs

regarding customers looking for a discount in the car, the best response is to say does that mean i’m not getting a tip. if they have the neck to look for a discount they usually take this well.
